Between Myself and Nature

  • The artwork “Between Myself and Nature” consists of a mixture of printmaking, painting and drawing on two-dimensional planes with various sizes. Some pieces are presented individually and others in pairs, with a total of 61 pieces. The landscape drawings present an abstract meaning. They convey the feelings and emotions of the artist under different conditions and in accordance with the experiences during a certain period of time. At the sane time, they convey feelings that arise from being in close contact with natural surroundings. These two abstract components of the landscapes evolve in several topics that the artist wants to examine, such as subjectivity, the state of equilibrium between the self and nature, the differentiation between reason and feeling, as well as between the visual faculty and the imagination.
The content of the work “Between Myself and Nature” deals with ideas and feelings that are related to both personal issues and the natural environment. It is this part that is lacking in this time of cultural change. In an era where technological communication plays an important role in people’s lives, this work revives the old values, local values, the feeling of belonging and maybe also supports the idea that one is a human being only if one has responsive feelings and ideas towards the beauty of one’s inner self.
