"Dusk"
As a person, I give much importance to surroundings, especially the blurred, slightly distorted visual that comes with the nearing end of a day. The way the poignancy of surroundings slowly disintegrate and eventually become a blurred vision, without clear distinction. As an artist, I am able to appreciate this and am able to express the transition from clear cut views to lingering shadows that merely illuminate.

As our society becomes more accelerated, some are trapped in a claustrophobic world where everything is driven by the media, by fast paced travels. We find ourselves losing touch with our emotions. This collection of paintings will hopefully be an outlet for those who sometimes forget to breathe in their surroundings. It will perhaps serve as a reminder that amongst technology and progression, we need to take a moment to soak in the calmness of nature too.

Olarn Plubplon, was born in 1978 and graduated with a Master of Fine Art from Chiangmai University in 2005, created his latest work “Dusk” through visual arts using painting and drawing techniques in a semi-abstract style. His works cut out realistic details by using clear lines of colors to separate the composition of a picture. For a landscape image, for example, he paints sky and land by clearly dividing them with a vivid eye level line. Above the line are trees, mountains, and clouds. Under the line are fields and rivers.
Layers and lines of color on a two dimension artwork can create a distance and atmosphere by stimulating the eyes perception, causing movement and emotional changes. The artist uses his imagination and experience to explore the influence of nature on the human mind and to better understand the human mind and its own innate perceptions of nature.
These works are completed to bring a sense of peace and stillness, reduce mental tension, and balance one’s life after the assaults of materialism and consumerism.
